When Britannia’s three-bed three-bath apartment went on the market, Michael and Lexi Binckes knew it was the ideal space to call home.
The family has been living in a two-bedroom apartment in the Kings Court of the development, preparing to upgrade.
Michael said: “This is exactly what we need in space. A friend of ours lives here for rent.”
However, the apartment fell into a time warp. The outdated decor includes wicker furniture, white appliances and artificial marble, making the apartment feel old and inviting. The renovation is for.
The couple invited Justin Szigeti, a senior designer from the Interior Design Group (IDG), to realize their vision.
Justin said: “The renovation project starts with meeting with customers so that we can understand their specific lifestyles, needs and requirements.”
“This helped us map out each space and define a new layout. After completing the planning, we created an interior design drawing package. This allowed us to provide a demonstration plan to the contractor, suggest electrical changes, reflect the ceiling plan and suggest Finishes and fixtures.”
This 2,900 square foot unit has been completely redesigned to become a fully custom contemporary loft.
Justin said: “This is a loft style, but it is also based on natural earth tones and wooden furniture.” “The second floor overlooks the living space below, which opens up the house and gives people a streamlined feel. .
“We want the space to be very personal and unique for the Cayman Islands. The wooden cabinets and personalized glass panels provide a luxurious and customized feel. We want to make sure that all our spaces are used and there is no wasted area. This is why we took the time to redo the entire floor plan.”
He said: “We want to create a personalized kitchen that is both beautiful and practical.” “The custom cabinets we installed are specifically designed to meet the needs of homeowners. Walk-in storage rooms can provide more storage space and include A separate hidden workspace.”
The unique positioning of the kitchen means that the main living area is kept clean and tidy. The large workbench/breakfast bar provides ample space for food preparation and entertainment.
Justin said: “Overall, this is a well thought out space, and the contrast between contemporary white and wood tones creates incredible visual interest.”
Justin said: “We want the dining space to be casual and comfortable, with a capacity for 10 people.” “Modern glass chandeliers are suspended from the second ceiling, giving a dramatic feel and also helping to define the space.”
Justin said: “Curling on the sofa to watch a movie is a good place, but it’s also perfect for entertaining.” “From the window you can enjoy the beautiful view of the canal, and above, the double-height ceiling gives you a glimpse Attic on the second floor.”
Justin said: “We want the bedroom to have a very customized feel.” “The full-height glass wall has an integrated automatic roller shutter. The slatted wood headboard includes a floating bedside table and an embedded soft-pack panel. Everything about this space is custom-made. .”
Justin said: “The space is very detail-oriented, with recessed door pulls and custom internal shelves.” “The space is anchored by a large central island underneath a gorgeous chandelier.”
The couple wanted to create a spa-like experience in the master bathroom. The backlit LED reflector spans the length of a dressing table.
On the other side of the room, there is another display shelf and storage shelf. The open wet room includes a shower and a free-standing bathtub.
Justin pointed out: “The repeated use of wood creates a cohesive and unified appearance.” “We chose a unique linear wood grain to add visual interest. Its warm and rich tones create a beautiful contrast with white.”
The couple originally came from South Africa and moved to Cayman in 2010. Their son Jordan (Jordan) was born in 2011.
“From the very beginning we fell in love with the Cayman Islands,” said Michael Michael (Michael/Michael), a RE/MAX real estate agent.
The personal style decorates the entire family, including various plants and selected artworks, reminding them of their roots.
Michael said: “We have a lot of African decorative items, these things always take us home.” “African skin also adds a lot to us.”
Lexi likes the open-plan living of the kitchen and dining area, as well as the huge 14-foot counter for entertaining friends and spending time with family.
“I like the wine and rum room. Although it is small, I like the smell of the cigar and its romance,” Michael said. “The fact that it is always visible through the glass door means it is always there.”
Jordan likes the spaciousness of the former Britannia golf course right outside.
“It’s great for kids,” Michael said. “Our son rode his bike until sunset every day and explored the golf course with his friends a few hours later. As in the past, this is a paradise for children.”
